Home›News›Rockstar Tells GTA 6 Cast: No Role Reveals Until Nov 19

According to a report published on September 28, Rockstar Games has reminded the entire GTA 6 voice cast that their non-disclosure agreements remain in force until launch day — meaning no actor can publicly reveal their role before November 19, 2026. The claim comes from the hosts of the GTAVIoclock podcast, who say they have seen the message Rockstar sent to the cast. Rockstar has not commented publicly, and the claim has not been independently verified.

What Rockstar reportedly told the cast
The GTAVIoclock hosts discussed the message in episode 141 and quoted it directly: “We would like to remind everyone to please remember your NDA. The date you may announce your involvement is still November 19th.”
The reminder reportedly went out shortly after veteran actor Stephen Root confirmed earlier this month that he appears in the game — the first and still only public confirmation of involvement by any performer. The podcast’s hosts are described by followers as having long-standing contacts at Rockstar North going back to before the release of GTA 5, which lends the claim some weight — though Rockstar’s silence means it should still be treated as a report, not an official announcement.
Stephen Root and the accidental reveal
Stephen Root — known for Barry, King of the Hill and Get Out — said earlier in September that he plays a character in GTA 6, without naming the role. Fans had already linked his distinctive voice to Brian Heder, the drug trafficker who speaks in one of the first GTA 6 trailers, and Root later acknowledged that recognition made the secret hard to keep.
We covered Root’s confirmation and every other confirmed character in our deep-dive on all nine confirmed GTA 6 characters. But an acknowledgement by an actor is one thing — an official cast list from Rockstar is another, and the reported NDA reminder makes clear that the second won’t come from the performers themselves.
What we still don’t know: Lucia, Jason, and everyone else
Here’s what makes the lockdown significant. Despite everything Rockstar has revealed in recent weeks — a 34-track original soundtrack album, a $400 collector’s box, and a 14-page Game Informer cover story due out digitally today — the voices behind Lucia and Jason, the game’s dual protagonists, remain completely unknown.
The same goes for every other character in Leonida. There are fan theories and claimed leaks about who plays whom, but Rockstar has never published a cast list for GTA 6, and the studio has not announced any plans to do so before November 19. Anyone claiming to have a full cast list before then is dealing in unverified territory — especially in a year when leaked material has been a recurring problem for the game, from the Cyberleeks clips to the separate 192GB archive of internal Rockstar files.
Why Rockstar keeps its cast under wraps
The secrecy is pure Rockstar. The studio has cast well-known actors in earlier Grand Theft Auto games — Samuel L. Jackson and Ray Liotta are the classic examples — and keeping the GTA 6 cast anonymous preserves the surprise of hearing a familiar voice for the first time when the credits roll. It also keeps the focus on the characters rather than celebrity casting headlines during the marketing run.
Whether GTA 6 features similar star power is an open question, and the NDA date keeps it open until release. The lockdown also suggests Rockstar takes the risk of another accidental reveal seriously: one interview slip from a veteran actor was enough to trigger a studio-wide reminder.
What this means
If the report is accurate, fans should expect zero official cast news for the next seven weeks. No protagonist reveals, no celebrity casting announcements, no official character-voice pairings — until November 19. Any “cast list” circulating before then should be treated as unconfirmed, and any social media post from an alleged performer should be met with scepticism: the people actually in the game are contractually barred from saying so.
It also means launch day itself will double as the cast reveal. The first time players hear the full credit roll, they’ll finally learn who brought Lucia, Jason and the rest of Leonida to life. For a studio that treats information like a currency, that’s a fittingly Rockstar way to end the mystery.
Until then, the safest assumption is the simplest one: Stephen Root remains the only GTA 6 actor to confirm involvement publicly — and everything else is noise.
