GTA 6 Age Ratings Tracker: Every Rating Live-Checked

GTA 6 Age Ratings Tracker: Every Rating Live-Checked
Concept art: AI-generated.

✅ CONFIRMED

GTA 6 age ratings live-checked 5 October 2026: the US, Australian and New Zealand store ratings are final on PlayStation and Xbox, PEGI is 18 in Europe, and two familiar ESRB interactive labels are missing. Three boards are still pending, and some US physical listings still show stale “Rating Pending” artwork.

Quick answer: GTA 6 is ESRB Mature 17+ in the US, PEGI 18 in Europe, R18 in New Zealand and R 18+ in Australia, live-checked 5 October 2026. It carries seven ESRB descriptors plus “In-Game Purchases”, but not “Users Interact” or “In-Game Purchases (Includes Random Items)”. Japan, Germany and Brazil remain pending.

What we checked on 5 October 2026

We checked the live PlayStation Store listings in the US, Australia and New Zealand, the Xbox Store US listing, Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto VI page, US physical listings at Best Buy and GameStop, the Rockstar Store, and live USPTO trademark records on 5 October 2026. We compared wording word-for-word with GTA V where a board has changed its phrasing. Prices, dates and ratings below are as displayed at that check. We have not invented figures, and we do not claim Amazon pricing because Amazon blocked our check. For background, read our earlier breakdown of GTA 6’s ESRB Mature 17+ rating on Rockstar’s website and GTA 6’s PEGI 18 rating in Europe.

On PlayStation Store US, Grand Theft Auto VI is listed at $79.99 Standard / $99.99 Ultimate, release 11/19/2026, as “ESRB Mature 17+”. Xbox Store US lists $79.99+ / $99.99+, 11/19/2026, MATURE 17+, the same seven descriptors and “In-Game Purchases”, with capabilities “Single player” and “Optimized for Xbox Series X|S”. Rockstar’s official page at rockstargames.com/VI carries the same seven descriptors plus “In-Game Purchases” in its footer, under a hero reading “COMING NOVEMBER 19, 2026”. See our GTA 6 release date countdown for 19 November 2026 for the launch timeline.

The two ESRB labels that aren’t there

Two labels are absent from both console stores and Rockstar’s footer: “Users Interact” is ABSENT, and “In-Game Purchases (Includes Random Items)” is ABSENT. Only “In-Game Purchases” appears. PlayStation US states “Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience”, “1 player” and “Offline play enabled”.

Honest framing matters here. The absence of “Users Interact” is consistent with a single-player launch, because ESRB applies that label to real-time online interaction; it is NOT a Rockstar announcement about a future online mode. Likewise, the absence of “Includes Random Items” means no loot-box/random-item label. “In-Game Purchases” alone is explained on-store by editions, upgrades and GTA+ month. Do not read either omission as confirmation of a future mode.

Australia and New Zealand say ‘Sex Scenes’

PlayStation NZ lists $139.95 / $174.95, OFLCNZ R18, with “Drug Use, Graphic Violence, Nudity, Offensive Language, Sex Scenes”. PlayStation AU lists $129.95 / $159.95, ACB R 18+, with “Drug Use, High Impact Violence, Sex Scenes”. The NZ/AU headers show 18/11/2026 in local time, which is the same 19 November launch.

The wording is new. GTA V’s Australian wording was “Sex”, and New Zealand’s GTA V wording was “Sexual Material”. GTA 6’s AU/NZ wording “Sex Scenes” is new verbatim wording. By contrast, the ESRB descriptor set matches GTA V’s seven descriptors.

Store-check extras

Xbox lists a separate add-on, “Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition Upgrade”, at $20.00 on PRE-ORDER. On PlayStation US, the same upgrade add-on is listed “Unavailable”, while the $99.99 Ultimate bundle is pre-orderable. That is a store difference, not a price change. Compare the editions in our GTA 6 price and editions compared guide, and check GTA 6 pre-load and download size guidance before launch.

Best Buy US and GameStop US physical listings are “Code in Box”, $79.99, with retailer date 11/12/2026 stating “Delivers 11/12/26, Playable 11/19/26”, yet they still display “ESRB RP” (Rating Pending). That is stale against the finalised store ratings above. At the Rockstar Store, the Vice City Collection is $399.99, “COMING SOON”, Pre-Order Now (not sold out at check), ships from November 19, 2026, with the note: “Grand Theft Auto VI game sold separately.”

Trademark desk

USPTO live check – 5 October 2026: GTA VI serial 98298472 is LIVE/PENDING, status date 2026-08-20: “A third request for extension of time to file a Statement of Use has been granted.” WWE “VICE CITY” serial 50031923 is DEAD/ABANDONED, status date 2026-09-21, express abandonment filed 2026-09-02.

What we’re watching next

Still pending or not finalised in our check: Japan CERO (Under Review), Germany USK and Brazil ClassInd (Rating Pending on store listings, reported 3 Oct), and the ESRB long written summary, which is not yet published. We frame these as PENDING, never as confirmed. We will update this tracker when a board publishes a final rating or when ESRB posts its full summary.

FAQ

What is GTA 6’s age rating?

ESRB Mature 17+ in the US, PEGI 18 in Europe, R18 in New Zealand and R 18+ in Australia, live-checked 5 October 2026, with seven ESRB descriptors plus “In-Game Purchases”.

Does no ‘Users Interact’ confirm no GTA Online at launch?

No. It is consistent with a single-player launch, because ESRB uses that label for real-time online interaction, but it is not a Rockstar announcement about any future online mode.

Why do AU/NZ say ‘Sex Scenes’?

That is the boards’ new verbatim wording for GTA 6. GTA V used “Sex” in Australia and “Sexual Material” in New Zealand, so “Sex Scenes” is a wording change, not a copied label.

Which ratings are still pending?

Japan CERO is Under Review, Germany USK and Brazil ClassInd were Rating Pending on store listings reported 3 Oct, and ESRB’s long written summary is not yet published.
