Home›Guides›GTA 6 Price & Editions Compared: $79.99 vs $99.99

✅ CONFIRMED — All prices below come from Rockstar’s official pre-order listings and storefront pages. Last updated October 1, 2026. We update this hub whenever Rockstar changes pricing or announces new editions.
GTA 6 is the first Rockstar game launching at the new $79.99 standard price — and between two game editions, a $399.99 merch box that doesn’t include the game, and regional pricing that varies wildly, figuring out what to actually buy takes some untangling. This guide compares every GTA 6 edition side by side, breaks down exactly what each one contains, and gives you an honest answer on which one is worth your money.
GTA 6 editions at a glance
| Edition | Price (US) | Includes the game? | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $79.99 | Yes | Full GTA 6 campaign; digital download or physical box with download code |
| Ultimate | $99.99 | Yes | Everything in Standard, plus bonus vehicles, weapons, outfits, businesses and extra story content |
| Vice City Collection | $399.99 | No | 11-piece merch box (figure, Oakleys, apparel, collectibles) — game sold separately |
Standard Edition — $79.99
The Standard Edition is the full game, nothing held back. You get the complete single-player campaign — Jason and Lucia’s story across the state of Leonida — with no locked missions or areas. It comes as a digital download or a physical box containing a download code, not a disc (a format shift Rockstar confirmed for this release).
For most players, this is the right buy. The campaign is the entire experience Rockstar is selling at launch — remember, the studio has described GTA 6’s launch as a single-player experience, with no online mode announced for November 19. Everything the trailers and the Game Informer cover story showed — the 2x-sized map, the overhauled wanted system, the nine confirmed characters — is in the Standard Edition.
Ultimate Edition — $99.99: what’s actually in it?
The Ultimate Edition costs $20 more and layers exclusive in-game content on top of the full game: bonus vehicles, weapons, outfits, hairstyles and tattoos, plus in-game businesses and extra story content built around Jason and Lucia that Standard owners can’t access. Digital pre-orders of either edition also include one free month of GTA+ (which currently applies to the existing GTA Online).
The key detail: you can upgrade from Standard to Ultimate for $20 at any time — the same as the price difference at purchase. That removes almost all the pressure from the decision. Buy Standard now, play the game, and upgrade later only if the Ultimate-exclusive content turns out to be worth it. Unless you’re certain you want the bonus content on day one, Standard first is the smarter move.
Is the Ultimate Edition worth it?
Honestly? For most players, no — not at launch. Here’s the reasoning:
- The upgrade path is always open. At $20 anytime, there’s no pre-order-exclusive discount to miss. Waiting costs you nothing.
- Content value is unproven. “Extra story content” sounds great, but until reviewers and players evaluate whether it’s a meaningful mission chain or filler, $20 is a gamble.
- Cosmetics are personal. Bonus vehicles, weapons and outfits are nice-to-haves, not the reason anyone buys GTA 6.
- The exception: if you’re a completionist who wants every mission and business on day one and $20 is trivial to you, Ultimate saves you a second transaction.
Our verdict: buy Standard, upgrade later if the content earns it. Put the $20 toward the GTA VI: The Album instead — 34 original tracks you’ll actually listen to for years.
The $399.99 Vice City Collection: merch box, no game
This is the one that confused everyone, so let’s be unambiguous: the Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection costs $399.99 and does not include any version of GTA 6 — not digital, not physical. Rockstar’s store page states it directly: the game is sold separately. To get the game alongside the box, you’re looking at a minimum total spend of about $480.
So what does $399.99 buy? An 11-piece collector’s set themed around Macca the Gator — the mascot of Leonida Keys, a fictional in-universe TV show (and the namesake of the game’s Goodtime Gear apparel label). The full contents:
- 6-inch Macca the Gator figure with a twist-open stash compartment in the base
- Oakley Frogskins sunglasses — matte black frames, Prizm Sapphire lenses, pink GTAVI logo
- New Era 9FORTY snapback hat with Vice City / Leonida embroidery
- Leonida Keys crossbody bag
- Macca the Gator magnetic mirror
- Chunkee the Manatee shot glass
- Vice City collectible swizzle spoon
- Vice City razor-blade-style keychain
- Nine Leonida Keys enamel pins in a metal tin
- Nine vinyl stickers in a stash bag
- Double-sided souvenir poster — Macca artwork on one side, a full map of Leonida (36 x 26 in) on the other
The practical terms: pre-orders opened September 24, 2026 via the Rockstar Store, limited to one per customer, shipping starts November 19, 2026 (launch day), and — adding a little insult — the oversized box doesn’t qualify for free shipping. UK pricing is £349.99; Europe €399.99. Our original collector’s box breakdown has the full story, including the fan backlash and refund wave it triggered.
Worth it? Only as a collectible. The Oakleys and the New Era cap carry most of the real-world value; the poster is currently the only physical Leonida map Rockstar is offering, since standard packaging ships without one. If you’re buying it expecting a game inside, stop — there isn’t one.
Pre-order bonuses: what you get free
Two bonuses apply, and both are time-limited:
- Vintage Vice City Pack — included with every pre-order and every purchase made before November 20, 2026. Cosmetic pack: themed car and garage content, weapons, clothing and vehicles with a vintage Vice City flavor.
- One month of GTA+ free — digital pre-orders only. Note this applies to the existing GTA Online, since no GTA 6 online mode has been announced for launch.
Rockstar has said the Vintage Vice City Pack will not be available after the cutoff — so if you know you’re buying at launch, pre-ordering is strictly better than waiting until November 19. Our step-by-step GTA 6 pre-order guide walks through the whole process.
Where to buy GTA 6
Pre-orders opened June 25, 2026, across the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Store, and major retailers (Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart). A few things worth knowing:
- Digital is the path of least resistance: pre-load opens November 12, and the game unlocks at midnight local time on the 19th.
- Physical gets you a box with a download code — buy it for the shelf, not for a disc. Physical copies go on sale November 12 so boxed buyers can pre-load too.
- Retailers (GameStop, GAME, EB Games) traditionally run midnight launch events for GTA — check your local store in late October.
- Watch out for scams: with no PC version announced, any “GTA 6 PC download” is fake. And anyone selling “early access” is selling nothing — early access isn’t part of any edition.
Regional pricing: what GTA 6 costs around the world
US pricing ($79.99 / $99.99) is the baseline, but Rockstar has set regional prices in many markets. Confirmed examples:
- India: Standard ₹5,999 / Ultimate ₹7,499 on PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store — roughly in line with other AAA launches in the market.
- UK: the Vice City Collection is £349.99 (game edition UK pricing follows the usual regional tiers).
- Europe: the Vice City Collection is €399.99.
Rockstar’s store backend has also shown regional edition codes for the Netherlands, UAE, Australia, Portugal, Switzerland, New Zealand and India — mostly paperwork for regional compliance rather than content differences, though it’s worth watching. We covered the full story in GTA 6’s regional editions explained. Prices in your region live on your local PlayStation and Microsoft storefronts — that’s the number to trust over any aggregator.
Frequently asked questions

Does the $399.99 Vice City Collection include the game?

What’s the difference between Standard and Ultimate Edition?
Both include the complete game. Ultimate adds bonus vehicles, weapons, outfits, hairstyles, tattoos, in-game businesses, and extra story content featuring Jason and Lucia. Standard owners can upgrade to Ultimate for $20 at any time.
Should I pre-order GTA 6?
If you’re buying at launch, yes — pre-ordering (or buying before November 20) gets you the Vintage Vice City Pack free, and digital pre-orders add a month of GTA+. There’s no discount for waiting, and launch-week stock for physical boxes can be tight.
Does the physical edition of GTA 6 come on a disc?
No. The physical edition ships with a download code in the box rather than a game disc. It goes on sale November 12 so boxed buyers can pre-load alongside digital owners.
